CCH Canadian Limited is a premier provider of software, content and services to professionals in the fields of tax and accounting, financial planning, legal and business. CCH provides current tax and business law information in multiple print and electronic formats for its customers. CCH tracks, analyzes and explains tax and business related law, annually producing hundreds of publications in electronic and print form for tax, accounting, legal, human resources, banking, securities, insurance, government, health care and financial planning professionals. In complement to these content solutions, CCH has over 30 annual software releases designed to automate and optimize professional workflows.

Objective: To provide a more thorough and comprehensive testing methodology to CCH CD products as well as give CCH the ability to Outsource their Quality Assurance and testing which allows for ease of scalability with short notice allowing for better usage of CCH internal development timelines. Essentially Inforica removed the QA and Testing risk from CCH so that they could focus on customer driven tight development and release timelines.
Solution:
  • Inforica took the existing documented test cases and refined and enhanced them to make them easier to understand and learn. Based on Analysis by Inforica with additional requirements provided by CCH additional test cases were added for multiple new products throughout the yearly cycle in order to improve and enhance testing coverage, which allowed CCH and Inforica to decrease defects, catch them earlier in a cycle and meet production schedules 100% of the time with 100% accuracy.
  • More thorough and easier to understand testing documentation. The test suites are created in such a way that upon minimal knowledge transfer internal CCH resources can run the test packages efficiently and effectively.
  • Multiple people (Scalability) capable of performing test execution and the ability to provide accelerated testing results when necessary.
  • High levels of efficiency, which enables Inforica testers to perform additional ad hoc testing to the standard and regression test suites that are completed monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually.
  • Storage of historical information so that metrics are available on demand.
  • A complimentary mix of automated and manual testing procedures are used for ease of testing the various products while creating efficiencies for the test packages that have little movement throughout a cycle.
Result: Inforica and CCH have created a partnership that allows for CCH to scale easily and focus their attention on the development and production of their products and services. Due to Inforica’s efficient QA process and methodologies, defect rates have fallen and time to market for CCH products has been met 100% of the time with 100% accuracy regardless of production or development issues.
